Michael Simpsonelli

Michael is a dedicated music educator, multi-instrumentalist, recording studio owner/producer and founder of East Van Music Lab. With over 25 years of experience, he’s known for his creative teaching style, deep commitment to his students, and a sense of humor that keeps lessons fun, relaxed, and full of energy. Whether guiding a beginner student or producing a seasoned band in the studio, Michael brings patience, passion, and a strong belief in music as a lifelong source of confidence and connection.

He has worked with Grammy winner Terry Townson, Juno winners Shad K and George Leach, toured Japan with members of KMFDM and SNFU, and has done in-studio and live work with a long list of Vancouver artists like CR Avery, Ryan Guldemond of Mother Mother, and many more.

Michael also runs Woodland Sound Studio, a professional production space where EVML students can record and film their work - transforming their musical progress into high-quality, real-world projects.
Sacha Levin

Sacha is a dynamic percussionist, educator, and group facilitator with a background in West African and Afro-Cuban drumming traditions. She has studied with master drummers in Canada and Ghana, Africa, and has been teaching rhythm and hand drumming to children and adults for over a decade.
At East Van Music Lab, Sacha offers both private and group classes focused on rhythm, creativity, and community - creating an inclusive space where students of all ages can connect through the drum.
