STUDIO A

The EVML Band and Recording Lab

Studio A is a custom built headphone based rehearsal and recording room where band classes, drum lessons, and group workshops take place. Every student uses professional studio headphones and receives a personalized monitor mix. This system is inspired by the way touring artists rehearse in modern studios.

Students can hear themselves clearly, stay locked in with the group, and build musical confidence in a focused and inspiring environment. Instruments are connected directly into our recording system, which allows us to rehearse with clean, controlled sound and record short clips for in-class listening. This helps students understand timing, dynamics, ensemble playing, and how their part fits in the larger arrangement. This setup is also used for professional recording. A lavalier microphone is used by Michael so students can hear him guiding them through their headphones.

Headphone Based Drum Lessons

Studio A is also home to EVML’s immersive drum lesson setup. Drum students use professional headphones while playing on high quality Roland electronic drum kits that are routed directly into our recording system. This creates a clean and inspiring sound environment where students can focus entirely on timing, feel, and technique without distractions.

Through headphones, students hear detailed, expressive drum tones from a large library of professionally recorded drum sample software, such as Superior Drummer and other pro level sound sources. This makes practice more musical and motivating, and it allows students to clearly hear the difference that dynamics, accuracy, and touch can make. With both drum kits patched into the monitoring system, Michael can instantly demonstrate patterns, phrasing ideas, or grooves for students to play along with.

A Studio Environment Designed for Learning

Studio A is where students learn how music actually works in a modern recording studio setting. They experience the same tools used in professional sessions in a safe, supportive, and creative space. The room is designed for collaboration, clarity, and group energy, and it makes every rehearsal, drum lesson, and workshop more engaging and fun.

STUDIO B

The EVML Creator Studio

Studio B is the private lesson and content creation studio at East Van Music Lab. It is a fully equipped creative room designed for guitar, bass, songwriting, vocal coaching, and multimedia exploration. This is the same studio where Michael produces his own music, mixes client projects recorded both at East Van Music Lab and Woodland Sound Studio, shoots YouTube videos for both EVML and Simpsonelli Productions, and develops new creative content.

The room features professional monitors, the Apollo Twin recording interface, high quality microphones, multiple cameras, a full YouTube filming setup, a large selection of electric and acoustic guitars, and a complete production workstation. Students are surrounded by the tools of a working musician, producer, and filmmaker, and they get to experience this world first hand.

Private Lessons in a Professional Creative Environment

During guitar, bass, or vocal lessons in Studio B, students learn in an inspiring environment filled with real studio gear. Lessons include traditional skill development along with small creative moments where students are introduced to ideas around tone, style, sound shaping, mic technique, and the basics of recording. These activities are short, educational, and designed to support their growth as musicians.

Students might hear their instrument through the Apollo Twin, try a different amp, listen to their tone through the studio monitors, see how effects and layers work, or explore short recording clips used only for in-class learning. These micro creative experiences help students understand how music is produced and give them a deeper sense of artistry and confidence.

Content Creation and Recording Opportunities

Studio B is also where optional recording and video projects take place. These projects are not part of lesson time, but they are available to any student who wants to create something special. This room is designed to produce high quality performance videos, acoustic sessions, song demos, and creative short-form content for families or social media.

Students who choose to explore content creation can book a separate session in Studio B for a polished video, a mixed audio recording, or an artist style creative session. This gives them access to a true multimedia environment and the experience of working with a professional producer and videographer.

A Space Built for Creativity and Growth

Studio B shows students what it feels like to create in a professional environment. It brings together music, recording, performance, and video in a way that supports personal growth, artistic development, and long term confidence. It is a unique space where traditional music education blends with modern creative tools, giving students a deeper and more inspiring experience than they will find in a typical lesson room.

Both studios work together to create a complete learning experience at East Van Music Lab. Studio A gives students the energy and clarity of a modern rehearsal and recording space, while Studio B provides a creative, one-on-one environment where ideas can grow into real projects. Whether a student is rehearsing with a band, building new skills in a private lesson, or exploring creative tools, every part of EVML is designed to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a deeper love of music.
